Don’t let em take your soul, got damn. Better fight it and don’t let em make you fold got damn. Break the mold, got damn!
Reppin my hometown, Berkeley – Caleborate drops a dope, lead single for upcoming LP, Real Person.
The raps and mood transcend the soul in today’s hip-hop game!
And Lege Kale boasts a notorious, Soundcloud freshness to this jam.
This dat smack rap Kool A.D. pulls off ingeniously.
And the crying baby production by Young Mozart is brilliant.
I’m not certain whether Bieber serves as a metaphor or plain satire, what I do know is this track needs more fucking BARS.
Bump Swoop Swooop off the Oakland rapper’s new album O.K. 1
One of the more introspective tracks from Bay Area lyricist, Locksmith’s, 2015 album, Lofty Goals, receives the visual treatment.
Stream the Jarell Perry assisted, Open Doors, and I’m eagerly awaiting a new project from the Richmond, California emcee.
Rest In Peace, The Jack Artist!
Oakland, California, mourns the loss of one of the realest in the Underground. This is one of my favorite jams from the Bay Area bossman.
The Bay Area’s very own Locksmith dropped the most hard-hitting, lyrically centered hip hop album of this year IMO, and I believe he’s one of the realest emcees to hold up a mic today. And of course, I gotta give daps to other great projects that came out which include – Big KRIT’s Cadillactica, Sam Lachow’s Huckleberry, Logic’s Under Pressure, Jamla is The Squad, RTJ2, Kool A.D. Word OK, Atmosphere SouthSiders, J.Cole’s Forest Hills Drive and many more.
Finally, I wanna give a shout out to all my hip hop heads, and looking back, I can safely say that 2014 was a great year for music and I’m sure 2015 will not disappoint, with Lupe’s Tetsuo & Youth kicking things right off in January.
TO AN AWESOME 2015 THEN!
This TBT is a special one – featuring one of my favorite Bay Area joints I used to bump!
Jamla’s GQ while sticking to the basics with sound and production, dishes a solid, lyrical album in Rated Oakland. I dig the sound and I sure as hell dig the hip-hop that’s coming out of the 510. Bump this shit!
