The Saudi crown prince accused of having a hand in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi reportedly told White House representatives the Washington Post journalist was a Muslim extremist.

The Post also reported that bin Salman, in conversations with the White House, has described Khashoggi as "a risky Islamist", claiming he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said it may take "a handful more weeks" before Washington has enough evidence to impose sanctions on individuals responsible for the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

"In accordance with plans made in advance, the victim, Jamal Khashoggi, was strangled to death immediately after entering the consulate-general of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul on 2 October, 2018 for marriage formalities", chief prosecutor Irfan Fidan said.

Germany's Angela Merkel Says She Won't Seek Re-Election, Will Leave Party Role
The election has unusually high national political significance following months of infighting in Merkel's federal coalition. That has given extra significance to the election in Hessen, which is home to 6.2 million of Germany's 82 million people.

The kingdom has faced intensifying global pressure to be transparent about the death of Khashoggi, a columnist for The Washington Post who was a critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

A Thursday report in The Washington Post said Netanyahu told Trump administration officials that bin Salman was a key strategic partner and a linchpin of the alliance against Iranian encroachment in the region.

"The tragic and unjustified" slaying of Khashoggi "is the theme of today's onslaught and demonization of Saudi Arabia in the same fashion as the previous crises".

"According to the latest information we have, the reason they cut up the body is it was easier to dissolve it", said Aktay, an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who was close to Khashoggi.

In a statement to the newspaper, Khashoggi's family denied he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and said the murdered writer had himself denied this repeatedly in recent years.

"We're going to find the fact pattern", he said.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have made a decision to cancel most of its $5 million charity to Saudi following Jamal Khashoggi's murder.

Some claimed the body was wrapped up in a rug to be transported from the scene, while others said the hit squad carried the dismembered corpse away in several bags. "The president said we will demand accountability for those who were involved in the commission of this heinous crime". A critic of the Saudi royal family, Khashoggi had been living in exile in the United States.

Sanders Rebukes CNN's Zucker for Choosing 'to Attack and Divide'
On Thursday morning, a ninth package was discovered - addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden - shortly after another package was sent to actor Robert De Niro's Manhattan restaurant.

After Saudi Arabia admitted that Khashoggi was killed in its Istanbul consulate, five high-ranking officials were dismissed, including bin Salman's media chief and the deputy head of the Saudi intelligence service.
