FBI agents investigating U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have contacted the second woman to accuse him of sexual misconduct, her attorney said on Saturday.

After resisting days of Democratic calls for an FBI probe into accusations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh, the Senate Judiciary Committee asked Friday for a brief investigation that would be "limited to current credible allegations".

After Blasey Ford's testimony, Kavanaugh hit back furiously, categorically denying the assault took place and accusing Democrats of destroying his reputation for political reasons.

Ramirez, a Boulder County employee, told The New Yorker magazine for a story published September 23 that Kavanaugh had exposed himself to her at a college party decades ago.

After three women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh, lawmakers disagreed along party lines about how to proceed.

CBS News has learned that as part of the investigation, the FBI has reached to Deborah Ramirez, the second woman who accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault. They returned after agreeing on the need for a limited FBI investigation of the sexual assault claims against Kavanaugh.

"Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion", he tweeted.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"I wonder - could you have done this if you were running for re-election?"

While the Senate, as well as women across the country, remain divided, the events on Thursday generated at least one common reaction.

Comey also alluded to the apparent discrepancy between statements Kavanaugh made to the committee about his drinking habits in high school and college, and what some of his former classmates remember based on their encounters with him. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said in a preview released Sunday of a 60 Minutes appearance he made with Sen. She did not identify Kavanaugh or Judge as one of her attackers.

According to NBC News, another restriction the White House has set bars the FBI from investigating Kavanaugh's account of his drinking habits during high school and at Yale University.

The others, the New York Times reported, are Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge and Leland Keyser and PJ Smyth, also said to have been at the party at which Ford says Kavanaugh assaulted her. As a result, a full Senate vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation has been delayed for up to a week.

Flake said he was overwhelmed by "the hearing itself, the aftermath of the hearing, watching pundits talk about it on cable TV, seeing the protesters outside, encountering them in the hall".

Cotton also said he would be "open to evaluating" any potential new evidence against the judge unearthed the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ford says he was present during her alleged assault; he has said he has no memory of the alleged attack. Swetnick claims she saw Kavanaugh drink excessively at these parties, "press girls against him without their consent" and attempt to remove or shift their clothing.

Flake's 11th-hour move played out on national television amid heated partisan debate and raucous protests in the halls of the Capitol, where several women cornered the Arizona senator in an elevator demanding he oppose Kavanaugh.
