Woodward's book is the latest to throw the Trump administration into damage-control mode with explosive anecdotes and concerns about the commander in chief.

Woodward also prints a summary of the July 2017 meeting written by a senior White House official who spoke with its attendees.

As is his wont, Fallon kept his commentary on the book brief, simply using one of the more distressing revelations as a bridge to make a silly joke about Trump's son.

When Defense Secretary Jim Mattis corrected him, Trump just replied: "Oh, OK".

"I'm a Southerner, people can judge my intellect, my IQ, by my product and what I produce rather than what somebody else says", Sen.

According to a tape of a call Woodward made to Trump last month, and released by The Washington Post, Trump accused the journalist of writing a "very inaccurate book" that would not reflect that no predecessor has "ever done a better job than I'm doing as president".

Woodward writes that his book is drawn from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand participants and witnesses, many of which were conducted on condition he would not reveal that they were the sources of the information.

But after publication of the book Trump challenged Woodward's integrity.

Hurricane Gordon WARNING issued for Alabama and MS as BRUTAL storm approaches
A hurricane warning is in effect from the mouth of Mississippi's Pearl River to the border between Florida and Alabama. He elevated his house off the ground after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and has food, water and two generators.

Bannon even suggested Graham could take McConnell's place as the Senate's most powerful member, the new book says. You're like a little baby that needed to be changed.

In one passage, for example, Woodward recounted a conversation in which the president supposedly called his Attorney General Jeff Sessions "mentally retarded". "As Dowd rattled off a series of questions about the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, Trump reportedly stumbled over his answers and contradicted himself", the Hill said. Chief of Staff John Kelly called Trump an "idiot", and said "We're in Crazytown". Kelly's maintained that the "The idea I ever called the president an idiot is not true".

Kelly's statement emphasizes he is committed to Trump's presidency, his agenda, and the country. Johnny Isakson of Georgia said, according to The Post. "It's either that or an orange jumpsuit".

The story is not the only time Mattis appears in Woodward's book. After Trump left the room, Woodward wrote, Mattis told people that Trump understood the topic like a "fifth or sixth-grader".

Mattis had to correct Trump, according to Woodward, by saying, "No, Mr President".

Trump sent that statement around his Twitter feed, along with another from Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

US President Donald Trump wanted to have Syrian President Bashar al-Assad assassinated a year ago but his defense secretary ignored the request, according to a new book by famed Watergate reporter Bob Woodward.

According to Woodward's book, Trump called Attorney General Jeff Sessions "mentally retarded" and told defence chiefs about Syrian leader Bashar Assad: "Let's f****** kill him".

Trump says to keep Attorney General Jeff Sessions until November
Some Republican lawmakers have predicted Trump would replace Sessions, a former USA senator, after the November 6 elections. He charged that Mueller's probe was "highly conflicted" and that "real corruption goes untouched".

It was all part of a larger effort to insulate the administration, and the nation, from what they saw as Mr Trump's more unsafe impulses. She told reporters at United Nations headquarters that she had been privy to conversations about the Syrian chemical weapons attacks, "and I have not once ever heard the president talk about assassinating Assad".

"It's a gutless coward who will not stand up and be counted for what he or she says has happened", he said.

Woodward also claims that Gary Cohn, the former director of the National Economic Council, boasted of removing papers from the president's desk to prevent Trump from signing them into law, including efforts to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement and from a deal with South Korea.

Tweeted Trump: "Thank you General Mattis, the book is boring & untrue!"

Woodward repeatedly requested an interview with Trump for the book, but did not succeed.

Sanders responded to the president's tweet live on "Fox & Friends", where she also did an interview Wednesday morning, by pivoting to his tax cut bill, the swift changes to the judiciary branch and acts of deregulation. I never got a message. "But never once - never - did I think Woodward made it up".

Bob Woodward, as you might have heard, has a book about President Donald Trump on the way.

US President Donald Trump was not interviewed for the book. For Woodward, it means putting almost a half-century of credibility covering eight presidents behind a vivid account he says is supported by scores of hours of recordings.
