Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward of up to 140 miles primarily to the east of Kirk's center, NHC adds. The storm was moving northwest at 6 miles per hour and had 120 miles per hour maximum sustained winds. On the forecast track, the center of Kirk will move across the Lesser Antilles within the tropical storm warning area by this evening.

At 11 a.m. EDT (1500 UTC) on September 26 the center of Tropical Storm Kirk was located near latitude 12.1 degrees north and longitude 54.3 degrees west.

"By Thursday or Friday, Leslie is expected to reacquire subtropical or tropical characteristics while the cyclone moves slowly eastward to east-northeastward over the north-central Atlantic", the hurricane center said.

These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. "We are still in the peak of the 2018 hurricane season, Virgin Islanders must continue to remain vigilant and prepared".
