Never gave Vijay Mallya any appointment: Arun Jaitley

The 62-year-old former Kingfisher Airline boss, who appeared before the Westminster magistrates' court in the case regarding his extradition to India to face the trial on fraud and money laundering charges, was asked by reporters if he was "tipped off" to leave the country.

Refuting Mr. Mallya's claim, Mr. Jaitley had said he had never given him an appointment since 2014, but he used his privilege as a Member of Parliament to accost him once in Parliament. In his response, while Jaitley did not deny meeting Mallya or the latter's offer of settling the bank loans, the finance minister accused the billionaire businessman of abusing the House privileges.

A United Kingdom court on Wednesday fixed December 10 as the date to deliver its verdict on whether beleaguered liquor baron Vijay Mallya can be extradited to India to face charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around Rs 9,000 crores.

Trump aide Papadopoulos gets 14 days in prison
Prosecutors say Papadopoulos' lies caused irreparable harm to the investigation and he did not provide substantial assistance. But the attorney said "the president of the United States hindered this investigation more than Papadopoulos ever could".

Jaitley soon refuted the allegation claiming that "the statement is factually false in as much as it does not reflect truth". 'So, the question of his having met me does not arise, ' he clarified.

"He paced up to catch up with me and while walking uttered a sentence that "I am making an offer of settlement", the Minister said.

Terming Mallya's offer to settle overdue loans of more than Rs 9,000 crore to his now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines as "bluff offers", Jaitley said he did not even take the papers the liquor baron was carrying during that brief encounter. "In this anticipation, he (Mallya) left earlier", Jaitley had said, adding that "it would have been better had banks started the process earlier". While the tribunal was hearing the matter, Mallya left the country on March 2. However, he also claimed that Mallya told Jaitley that he was leaving for London. "If I am wrong, I will resign from politics", Punia said.

"I put nearly Rs 15,000 crore offer on the table of the Karnataka High Court". Today Mallya spoke to reporters outside London's Westminster Magistrates' Court, where his extradition case is being heard.

"I am certainly a scapegoat, I feel like a scapegoat".

Mallya first spoke about meeting Jaitley during the lunch break when he stepped out for a smoke.

In an 8-minute long video accessed exclusively by News18, pictures of barrack number 12 of Arthur Road jail in Mumbai were leaked. "These letters show us how the previous dispensation under Sonia Gandhi was biased, partial and kept all norms and regulations at bay to give a sweet deal to Kingfisher Airlines", Patra alleged. "I hope the honourable judges will consider it favourably; everybody gets paid off and I guess that's the primary objective", said Mallya, who is fighting extradition to India on charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around Rs 9,000 crore.
