Several Killed As Gunmen Attack Military Parade In Iran Report

More than twenty members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards have been killed after gunmen fired on a military parade in southwestern Iran, the semi-official Tasnim news agency has reported.

State-run news agency IRNA reported gunmen were dressed in guard uniforms and targeted a platform where military and police commanders were sitting.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack in Iran's southwest. However, Iran faced a bloody assault a year ago from the Islamic State group and Arab separatists in the region have attacked oil pipelines there in the past.

Five people, three of them infants, stabbed at daycare center
A police spokesman said victims had "multiple stab wounds", adding they are looking into reports some of the victims are children. A 52-year-old woman working at the center has been arrested after the 3:30 am assault in the Queens borough of the city.

Two of the attackers were killed and two were arrested, the deputy governor said.

Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif blamed the bloodshed on "regional terror sponsors", language that usually refers to Iran's enemies Saudi Arabia and Israel, and "their USA masters", and vowed that Tehran would respond decisively. Other Iranian media also consider the assailants to be linked to the Saudis, Iran's regional arch rival. The separatists, however, previously only conducted pipeline bombings at night or hit-and-run attacks.

Later on Saturday, IS claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the group's Amaq news agency.

Four militants carried out the 9:00am (0530 GMT) attack on the parade commemorating the start of the devastating 1980-88 conflict between Iran and Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Grassley has said that in the interest of making Ford comfortable, he'd be willing to let Ford testify in public or private. Ford contends that in the 1980s, Kavanaugh groped her, attempting to take off her clothes while Judge was present.

"Terrorists recruited, trained, armed & paid by a foreign regime have attacked Ahvaz", Zarif said in a tweet, adding: "Iran holds regional terror sponsors and their USA masters accountable for such attacks".

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed earlier on Saturday to boost his country's ballistic missile capabilities despite crippling sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on the country.

Iran also suffered major attacks by IS extremists on June 7, 2017, when militants assaulted the parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in the capital, Tehran.

Meantime, Head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Public Relations Department and IRGC Spokesman General Ramezan Sharif told ISNA news agency that the terrorists who attacked people during the Armed Forces' parades in Ahwaz were affiliated to al-Ahwaziyeh stream which is nourished by Saudi Arabia. The assault shocked Tehran, which largely has avoided militant attacks in the decades after the tumult surrounding the Islamic Revolution.
