She has said her mind is not yet made up on Kavanaugh.

But will it win over on-the-fence Republican senators who may have been swayed by Christine Blasey Ford's testimony in the morning?

"Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter", said Ford, who is a research psychologist, "the uproarious laughter between the two". "I am an independent person and no one's pawn", she said.

Kavanaugh delivered on the president's directive, decrying what he called "a calculated and orchestrated political hit", an utter "circus", and "revenge on behalf of the Clintons". For Kavanaugh, his supporters say, it's not as much about a Supreme Court seat now but defending his name.

He broke down in tears at multiple points during his testimony, and alternately raged at the committee Democrats and the "disgrace" of the process. "Investigate", he said. "And make sure you're doing it for the right reasons".

"I'm no psychology professor but it does seem weird to me that someone could have a selective fear of flying", the President's son wrote.

He then promptly used it to lash out at Kavanaugh's treatment at the hand of Democrats, saying President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee had been put through hell.

Shadow Minister Pushed On Whether New Brexit Referendum Should Include Remain
Mr McDonnell said the party would only consider a second referendum if it became impossible to force an election. He said: "All the polling that we have seen is that the country is still pretty split down the middle.

Graham then asked Kavanaugh if he thought Thursday's hearing was a job interview.

In July, Baker, Hogan and Scott were the lone Republican governors to not sign a letter to Senate leaders offering support for Kavanaugh's nomination.

And because the president would have to call for the Federal Bureau of Investigation background check to be reopened, which would ultimately delay Kavanaugh's vote, that step remains unlikely.

Later on, Vermont Democratic Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Maine Sen.

Throughout the hearing, at least five Democratic lawmakers asked Kavanaugh about opening an FBI investigation on at least nine different occasions. McGahn, who is set to depart his post in coming weeks, had advocated for Kavanaugh, seeing his confirmation as the crowning achievement of his tenure - and part of a decades-long effort to install more conservatives on the high court. Ford testified first and will be followed by Kavanaugh. Lindsey Graham threw down a gauntlet to his wavering Republican colleagues from the dais in the hearing room with uncharacteristic fervor.

This is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics, and if you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn't have done what you have done to this guy, ' he said, returning to release his ire on Democrats.

If Republican and White House confidence began with Kavanaugh's star turn, a brief but blazing cameo by Sen.

Donald Trump: 'Pray for Brett Kavanaugh and His Family!'
He said Ford has not filed a complaint with local authorities in Maryland - where the FBI would start an investigation. Susan Collins of ME , one of the undecided Republicans, said she will be "glued to the television" during the hearing.

But his vote seems to lean toward Kavanaugh. Liberals began arguing that Kavanaugh should even step down from the appeals court where he now serves. Citizens all over the country tuned in, and women, especially, were riveted. Many others were deeply moved by Ford's testimony.

Blasey Ford said she managed to escape when Judge jumped on the bed, sending them all toppling.

"One hundred percent", she replied, remaining firm and unruffled through hours of questioning.

It was as if viewers were flipping back and forth between a CourtTV criminal cross-examination and a public-access television congressional hearing.

Graham asked, "Did you know that her and her staff had this allegations for over 20 days?" "One hundred percent", he said. "Every day has been a lifetime".

"I like beer", he said, but he also said he'd never passed out and never attacked Ford.
