British Airways has stated that it is investigating the theft of data of its customers from the website and mobile app "as a matter of urgency".

It is noted that the stolen data includes only information on non-cash settlements, hackers are unable to access your passport or flight information British Airways ' customers.

Alex Neill of Which? said: "British Airways customers will be concerned to hear about this data breach".

But U.K. information regulators could end up fining British Airways over the breach. "We take the protection of our customers' data very seriously", read the official statement.

The BBC reports that, based off British Airways' revenue for the year 2017, the maximum penalty imposed for this breach would be about $634 million.
