At a House hearing last month, Rosenstein, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray, faced angry Republicans who alleged bias at the FBI and suggested the department has conspired against Trump. A vote on impeachment would be a public loyalty test for Republicans.

The issue won't get taken up until lawmakers return from break in September, if then. "Enough is enough", Jordan said in a statement. "We must ensure transparency, and stop unelected bureaucrats from avoiding accountability to the American People".

Late Friday we learned that members of the House Freedom Caucus moved a step closer to impeaching Deputy US Attorney General Rosenstein.

"Rosenstein needs to turn the documents over, and we are simply, the Freedom Caucus, exhausted of waiting, so we're not waiting anymore", Rep. Ralph Norman, R-South Carolina, said. "We don't have full compliance and we need to get full compliance, but we've been making tremendous progress to that point", Ryan said. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who serves on the House Oversight Committee, said he's exhausted of the DOJ giving us the finger.

Meadows, Jordan, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz and others have been turning up the heat on Rosenstein, the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation since last autumn. He did sign off on at least one request to renew FISA warrant after taking office.

Meadows and Jordan filed the resolution a little more than an hour after leaving a meeting with top Justice Department officials, including FBI General Counsel Dana Boente and Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

Rosenstein has been a target for allies of President Trump since he appointed Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller to take over the Russian Federation investigation following Trump's firing of then-FBI Director James Comey.

"I'm not a big fan of drama", Gowdy said.

The protests also demand a "right of return" for descendants of Palestinian refugees to ancestral homes in what is now Israel . The Palestinian news agency Wafa said three people were arrested.

A Judiciary aide said the committee expects DOJ's full compliance with its subpoena and that the department will produce all the documents Congress is entitled to and fully cooperate with Judiciary's investigation.

It should go without saying that even if the House impeached Rosenstein, there's no way the Senate would come up with the two-thirds margin necessary to make him the first non-presidential executive branch official since Ulysses Grant's corrupt Secretary of War William Belknap to be removed from his position by Congress.

"While the absurd threat to impeach Rod Rosenstein will undoubtedly fail, using the Department of Justice as a prop for political theater does lasting damage to this vital democratic institution".

"The Department of Justice continues to thwart and/or impede the oversight authority of the Congress", Perry said in a press release.

"It's an uptick in their fabulously irresponsible effort to damage the critical institutions of this country in favor of defending the president", Himes, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said.
