George Clooney hospitalized after car accident in Sardinia reports

The accident happened in Sardinia where the U.S. actor is filming his latest TV series, Catch-22.

The car's driver reportedly assisted Clooney after the accident.

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia confirmed Clooney was treated there and released after Tuesday's accident, in which Clooney's scooter and a blue Mercedes sedan collided along a curve in the road.

Clooney is a Northern Kentucky native.

Clooney has a Lake Como home on the Italian mainland. He suffered just a few minor injuries in the accident and was released from the hospital after just two hours. The actor's helmet struck the car's windshield, causing it to shatter and the helmet to break.

The 57-year-old actor was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated for bruising on his leg, arm, and pelvis, TMZ reports. Cicognani told CNN he spoke with Clooney after the crash, who said he was "fine". He was taken to hospital with a possible injury to his hip, state news agency Ansa said.

Sardinian newspaper La Nuova posted a picture from the scene showing Clooney's scooter, a Mercedes vehicle and a fire extinguisher with the caption: "George Clooney in hospital: With his bike he ended up hitting a auto that was turning". Hopefully George Clooney's absence from the show won't deter from the production too much, but more importantly, hopefully the production of Catch-22 won't deter too much from Clooney's recovery.

Catch 22 was written by Luke Davies and David Michôd and is based on the Joseph Heller novel with the same title.
