Musa marks return with winning double as Nigeria beat Iceland

Heimir Hallgrimsson, the coach of Iceland, on Friday in Volgograd blamed fate for his team's 0-2 loss to Nigeria in Group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria will face Argentina in its final group match on Tuesday in St. Petersburg.

Victory over Iceland now means all six of Nigeria's victories in World Cup history have come at the expense of European opposition.

Just a minute later, Musa would get his second cracker of the game, this time latching onto a long ball before outpacing the Icelandic defence and rounding the goalkeeper.

Chukwu said that the Super Eagles showed "who we are and what we are really made of as Nigerians - a hard fighting people".

The counter-attack was devastating as Moses found time and space on the edge of the box, before whipping in a timely cross that found Musa in the middle of the penalty area, and he slotted home to put Nigeria a goal to the good.

In the interim, Ardern has passed her duties on to Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters . New Zealand's prime minister has arrived at the hospital to have her first child.

"I have to thank my teammates and the coach who believed in me", Musa said.

Gernot Rohr's charges were still under siege after 35 minutes, struggling to combine their play going forward.

Iceland were then handed a way back into the game from the penalty spot, after the New Zealander Matthew Conger consulted VAR to confirm the substitute Tyronne Ebuehi had brought down Alfred Finnbogason.

Ahmed Musa (left) of Nigeria scores for the 2-0 lead over Iceland in Volgograd on Friday night.

As well as starting with Musa, he opted to play captain John Obi Mikel in a more defensive role in midfield.

Musa added a second in the 75th after singlehandedly breaking down Iceland's last line of defense.

Future Hall of Famer Dwight Howard keeps getting traded
Getting that, along with a path to two max salary slots in 2019-20 in exchange for getting rid of a grumbling Timofey Mozgov? In the deal, the Nets will send two future second-round picks, cash and center Timofey Mozgov to the Hornets for Howard.

"If you change something you have to explain why", Rohr said, "and they have to do it with conviction and motivation". And with Croatia routing the Argentines 3-0 on Thursday, it opened the way for Iceland to claim the group's second spot in the round of 16.

The Super Eagles, meanwhile, know that a draw against Argentina will probably be sufficient, unless Iceland beat Croatia and better Nigeria's goal difference.

As Iceland has discovered in its World Cup debut, this tournament's an emotional ride.

"We talked about it before the game". It's something Iceland are generally not used to seeing, and the opposite of what they faced against Argentina.

Musa has scored at two different World Cup finals.

Hallgrimsson said the absence of Gudmundsson - replaced on Saturday by Rurik Gislason who plays for SV Sandhausen in Germany's second division - would not upset the balance of his team.

The US is withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council
Haley also decried the membership of countries like China, Cuba and Venezuela that are themselves accused of rights violations. He added: "Given the state of human rights in today's world, the U.S. should be stepping up, not stepping back".
