It had been reported Fekir would be joining Liverpool shortly after their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, with both parties eager to get a deal done before the player went with France to the World Cup.

Liverpool have been warned that their pursuit of Lyon forward Nabil Fekir could be over, with outspoken Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas adamant that the French club have no reason to sell and could easily offer their star man a new contract. The Reds have, in fact, lodged a €180 million bid to Real Madrid to sign the Spaniard in the summer transfer window.

English bulldog wins title of World's Ugliest Dog
Last year's victor , a delightfully floppy and seemingly half-melted Neapolitan Mastiff named Martha, didn't compete this year. For almost 30 years, the World's Ugliest Dog (r) Contest has been a testament that the pedigree does not define the pet.

As things stand, Liverpool can still resurrect a deal for Fekir and the club hasn't commented on the situation as they did with both Naby Keïta and Virgil van Dijk sagas previous year. In the meantime, there have been suggestions that he could be up for grabs for the very same reason, although it remains to be seen how his role changes under Julen Lopetegui. But perhaps Nabil Fekir denied the news about his injury and proclaimed his knee is "super good".

He would provide strong competition for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the wide attacking roles at Anfield, and he would more than make up for the disappointment of missing out on Nabil Fekir.

Saudi Arabia added to the MSCI EM index
MSCI will decide whether to reclassify Saudi Arabia and its US$ 526 billion bourse to "emerging" from "standalone" status. Allowing foreign funds into the Saudi stock market will facilitate the sale of the planned IPO.

Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of Fekir and the player even conducted an interview with Liverpool's club website before the deal hit a stumbling block. "The quietness from Liverpool makes me think a deal is not going to happen". Liverpool's bid is a long way off the Spaniard's €700 million release clause in the contract that he signed previous year.

Aulas has claimed there is interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho holding long discussions with the Lyon boss over Fekir.
