The eggs went to stores and restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Public health officials expect additional cases to be confirmed because of the lag time from the time a person develops symptoms to the time the CDC receives confirmation lab reports and notifications from state and local officials. The farm has recalled more than 207 million eggs.

Dozens of people in nine states have been sickened in a salmonella outbreak caused by eggs. "Rose Acre Farms takes food safety and the welfare of our hens, workers, and consumers very seriously". In response, the government prohibited the company from selling eggs from three IN farms where the contaminated eggs originated and required expensive cleanups that threatened to put the company out of business. The outbreak spread to almost 40 states and sickened 132 people. Eleven people have since been brought to the hospital for complications linked to the infections, but no deaths have been reported so far, the CDC said. It is being urged that if you or anyone you know present these symptoms after ingested recalled eggs to contact your doctor and get treatment immediately.
