Mahmoud Abbas Holocaust remarks spark outrage from USA and Israeli officials

US ambassador to Israel slams Abbas for anti-Semitic speech

US ambassador to Israel slams Abbas for anti-Semitic speech

In rambling remarks that were part of a lengthy speech to the PLO parliament, Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas said it was the Jews' "social function", including money-lending, that caused animosity toward them in Europe. He also said it was a historical "fact" that no Jews were attacked in the Arab nations in the last 1,400 years. He claimed that Jews moved to Israel exclusively for ideological and colonial reasons, not because of persecution "even during the Holocaust".

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman tweeted that Abbas had "reached a new low in attributing the cause of massacres of Jewish people over the years to their "social behaviour". "To all those who think Israel is the reason that we don't have peace, think again".

The DPG's statement represents a rare moment when a pro-Palestinian lobbying group, in a liberal, European country, challenged a Palestinian leader's falsehoods. Holocaust education remains central to building up resilience against all forms of hatred in our societies.

"His ugly attempts to explain and justify the European Holocaust because of Jews' avarice are truly an updated, nasty, and poisonous version of the antisemitic Protocols of the Elders of Zion", Shmuli said. Leaders must confront #antisemitism, not perpetuate its conspiracy theories.

Elon Musk confirms next Tesla Gigafactory will be in China
Speaking about Tesla's increasing cash flow problem, he said: "I'm feeling quite confident about hitting positive cash flow in Q3. The skid continued in Europe, where Tesla's German-listed shares were off 4.9% at mid-morning Thursday.

Denying the historic and religious connection of the Jewish people to the land and their holy sites in Jerusalem stands in contrast to reality.

PM Netanyahu called for worldwide condemnation of "anti-Semitism" by Abbas over remarks on Monday in which the Palestinian leader suggested historic persecution of Jews in Europe was caused by their own conduct. "Now there's a peace partner".

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) called on European leaders and officials to cease all contact with the Palestinian leader until he apologizes for "his outrageous antisemitism and Holocaust denial".

Abbas was born in 1935 in Safat, a town in the north of what was then British-ruled Palestine.

Prince Louis's birth certificate has been revealed
William and Kate's third child was born Monday, a brother to 4-year-old Prince George and Princess Charlotte , who is nearly 3. A zoo spokeswoman said the camel's name was simply Louis though some were already calling the camel " Prince Louis ".

Abbas reiterated that he would not accept an American peace deal in the wake of the Trump administration's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv later this month. Cohen added, "He has always been a Holocaust denier and will always remain a Holocaust denier".

The Holocaust has been a long time fascination for Abbas. "But it was likely much smaller, perhaps less than a million". Jews weren't massacred because they're Jews, he insisted during a televised speech.

A complete recording of the conference call with Cohen is embedded below.

There is no credible scholarship that supports Abbas' claims.
