BREAKING: Israeli forces hit by 20 ROCKETS as Iran strikes back at rival

The exchange was the first outbreak of military violence since President Donald Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal, a move that was strongly encouraged and supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. There were no Israeli casualties.

The Russian MoD maintained that Syria's air defence system shot down more than half of the incoming missiles, with the damage being evaluated.

"They need to remember the saying that if it rains on us, it'll storm on them".

Iran has vowed to retaliate for repeated Israeli airstrikes targeting its forces in Syria.

Later in the early morning hours, explosions could be heard in Damascus while live images were broadcast on television showing projectiles above the Syrian capital and several missiles destroyed by Syrian anti-aircraft systems.

The White House has condemned Iran's "provocative rocket attacks from Syria against Israeli citizens" and expressed strong support for "Israel's right to act in self-defense".

Over recent months, the Israelis say, a variety of Iranian installations have been established in Syria: weapons stores, barracks, air defences and so on.

Manchester City Rename Training Pitch After Yaya Toure
Guardiola, who sanctioned Toure's 2010 move to City while in charge of Barca, expects a fond farewell for the 34-year-old. That is held by Manchester United who won the league in 1999/2000 by 18 points, and are now 20 behind City.

A USA defense official told CNN that it was an Israeli military strike that hit suspected Iranian weapons near Damascus.

Israel has said it will not tolerate Iran seeking to establish permanent military bases in Syria as the war there winds down.

Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, a military spokesman, said four of the rockets were intercepted, while the others fell short of their targets.

Bahrain is a close ally of Saudi Arabia and the two countries, whose foreign policies are often in lockstep, view Iran as the chief threat to the region.

"We are not looking to escalate the situation", Conricus said but warned Israel would respond forcefully if attacked.

UNDOF was established by UN Security Council Resolution 305 on May 31 1974, to implement Resolution 338, calling for an immediate cease-fire and disengagement between Israeli and Syrian forces on the Golan Heights to end the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

The attack late on Wednesday prompted Israel to launch attacks of its own against Iranian targets in Syria.

North Korea says U.S. ruining mood of meetings
Trump told reporters on Friday that arrangements for the meeting had been set but didn't elaborate any further. Trump hinted that the release of Kim Dong-chul, Kim Hak-song and Tony Kim was in the offing.

Al-Ikhbariya TV said Israel also targeted military posts in southern Suweida province, including an air base, and struck near Homs in central Syria.

"I told President Putin that it is the right of every state, certainly the right of Israel, to take the necessary steps in order to protect itself from this aggression", Netanyahu said, referring to Iran's presence in Syria.

President Donald Trump's announcement Tuesday that the US was withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran has triggered uncertainty and threatened to spark more unrest in the Middle East. Israel claims to have prevented any harm to its infrastructure from missile fire.

"The global community should prevent the establishment of the Iranian Quds Force in Syria". The intent: both to set-back the development of Iran's military infrastructure in the country, but also clearly to send a powerful signal to Tehran.

Putin - as many worldwide diplomats have warned could happen - finds himself, absent a working peace plan in Syria, riding a tiger. We see them acting everywhere.

Tensions between Iran and Israel has been building for years, and there has been no report outlining the reasons why behind these attacks.

The two sides have been on a collision course for months.
