US President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen asked the Qatari government for at least $1m in December 2016, according to a report.

Earlier this month, Rudy Giuliani - the former Mayor of NY who recently joined President Trump's legal team - revealed in a TV interview that Trump reimbursed Mr Cohen for a $130,000 payment used to keep Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, quiet about an alleged affair in 2006.

Cohen has acknowledged paying Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford. But he said it appears there is paperwork that he expects will show Trump, through his personal attorney Michael Cohen, paid off the women.

Television networks have been pitched a show concept starring Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti and Donald Trump confidante Anthony Scaramucci, though no deal has been struck, a source close to the situation confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Trump had claimed in early 2018 that he had no knowledge of Cohen's payment to Daniels.

"Mr Trump fully reimbursed Mr Cohen", the disclosure report said.

He claimed that Trump may be in violation of 5 U.S.C. app. § 104, which says that the Attorney General can bring a civil action against someone who fails to report required information in their financial report.

Citing the federal criminal investigation, Cohen this week told a NY court that he would refuse to testify, citing his right against self-incrimination - under the US Constitution's Fifth Amendment - in a lawsuit filed by Daniels seeking to have the non-disclosure agreement cancelled.

Shaubtweetedthat Giuliani "may have lied" when he said Trump paid Cohen as much as $460,000 through the retainer.

As for the questionable tactics, he says Avenatti attributed certain "fraudulent" wire transfers to the wrong Michael Cohen. The White House did not respond to requests for comment to clarify the reason for Mr Trump's payment to Mr Cohen.

His Washington hotel in a former Post Office building brought in more than $40m in 2017, its first full year in operation. The leader of that office, Senior Executive Vice President Bob Quinn, is retiring, Stephenson said. The most recent report - the only one made public so far - examined Cohen's transactions from September of 2017 to January of 2018, and included activity totalling nearly a million dollars.

Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump's current lawyers, told Fox News Channel that the repayment did not have "to be disclosed at all because I think it was an expenditure that he reimbursed".

The two SARs in question reportedly show transactions totaling about $1 million in bank transfers over the span of about seven months, and some $2 million in activity during a three-month period ending in September 2017.

In his financial discloser form, Trump has listed assets of at least United States dollars 1.4 billion and income of more than USD 452 million.

The group, known as CREW, had filed a complaint with the justice department and the ethics office asking for an investigation into whether the payment constituted a loan.
