Wesleyan President Moves To Revoke Bill Cosby's Honorary Degree After Guilty Verdict

Bill Cosby's trial on three counts of aggravated indecent assault is now in the hands of the 12-person jury. Jurors received the case Wednesday shortly after 11 a.m

The first ended in a mistrial a year ago when jurors couldn't reach a verdict, but the second comes on the heels of the #MeToo movement that has raised awareness on predatory practices by power players in Hollywood and other industries. "When all is said and done, women were finally believed".

The 80-year-old entertainer stared straight ahead as the verdict was read. Constand told jurors she was "jolted awake" by the feeling of his fingers in her vagina as she lay on a couch in Cosby's home. Jackson said she and Cosby lawyer Kathleen Bliss "kind of created" her statement "together". Jurors deliberated for 14 hours before reaching a verdict, the AP reports. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled, and he remains out on bail.

In closing arguments earlier this week, Cosby's attorneys took aim at the credibility of Constand and the other women who testified.

Andrea Constand, the former women's basketball team manager at Cosby's alma mater, Temple University, said the actor gave her pills to help her relax while the two were alone at her Elkins Park, Pa., house.

Only one other accuser was permitted to testify at Cosby's first trial.

Draghi Debrief: Confidence On Growth Sends The EUR/USD Higher
Economists have predicted first quarter growth of 0.5 percent, compared to 0.7 percent in the last quarter of 2017. But with the risk of a global trade war still looming, it may not make a decision until absolutely necessary.

In addition to Constand, five women who have never before confronted Cosby in a criminal courtroom took the witness stand.

In a deposition he gave over a decade ago as part of Constand's lawsuit, Cosby acknowledged he had obtained quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with, "the same as a person would say, 'Have a drink.'" The sedative was a popular party drug before the US banned it more than 30 years ago.

The jury's decision comes less than a year after a different jury could not come to a decision.

The back-and-forth outside court came as jurors began their work after a two-week trial that pitted Cosby, the former TV star once revered as "America's Dad", against Constand, 45, who testified that he knocked her out with three pills and violated her in 2004.

"I want to see a serial rapist convicted", Thomas said.

"This case is about betrayal, and that betrayal leading to the sexual assault of a woman named Andrea Constand". Cosby said their encounter was consensual. His lawyer called Constand a "con artist" who leveled false accusations against Cosby so she could sue him.

Both juries also heard from Cosby himself - not on the witness stand, but via an explosive deposition he gave in 2005 and 2006 as part of Constand's civil suit against him.

Like many of Cosby's other accusers, Constand said she was drugged and violated while unable to defend herself.

Marguerite Jackson's testimony that Constand once spoke of framing a prominent person to score a big payday will be read back to the jury when court resumes outside Philadelphia on Thursday.
