TDP Protests

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) parliamentarians were on Sunday detained by police when they tried to protest near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi demanding Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.

"This is not democracy, not correct".

The TDP MPs had staged a similar protest inside the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan's chamber on Friday evening and had again been forcibly removed. "We condemn their detention and fully support demand for special status of Andhra Pradesh", Kejriwal said after meeting the leaders.

US and North Korean intelligence officials have spoken a couple of times and even met in a third country, CNN reported . The Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar has also been raised as a possible location, the officials told CNN.

The TDP members described their eviction from the Rajya Sabha as an "insult to Andhra Pradesh". "So we made a decision to quit and put pressure on the central government through our strike", Mithun Reddy said. "We have been elected by the people to address their issues".

On Friday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accused the Centre of acting in an autocratic manner and scuttling the various efforts to bring the no-trust motion up for discussion in Parliament, PTI reported.

Launching an attack on the central government, Naidu warned that the TDP will agitate more vociferously if the central government didn't accord a special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

The president enjoined all those with grievances over the outcome of the elections to seek constitutional means of resolving them. The candidate who lost Sierra Leone's presidential run-off vote has said his party intends to challenge the results in court.

In March, TDP withdrew its ministers from the Union cabinet and walked out of the NDA after the BJP-led Centre denied special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu has appealed to the AIADMK, which is the third largest entity in the Lok Sabha after the BJP and the Congress, to support the no-confidence-motion paving the way for the BJP's ouster.
