Baltimore Ravens sign former Cleveland Browns QB Robert Griffin III

The former Washington Redskins quarterback has reached agreement on a 1-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, who love the idea of having the 2011 Heisman Trophy victor backing up 10-year starter Joe Flacco. He will probably be here early next week to sign the deal, ' general manager Ozzie Newsome said.

The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Obviously, his personality, he's a confident guy. The Baylor product lays claim to a 63.3 percent career completion percentage, 8,983 passing yards, 42 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. Injuries suck, but here's to hoping Griffin's stint with the Ravens is much more promising. But Griffin was looking for some guarantees before working out with the team a year ago.

This is good news for Griffin, though, because he gets an opportunity for a fresh start with a quality organization that won't force him on the field out of the gates.

It's been a positive year thus far for Griffin. RG3 signed a one-year contract with the team. "He really wanted to be a Raven". I believe our players are going to love the fact that he's here.
