California rejects border duties for troops

No Agreement Yet Between California, Defense Department On Terms For National Guard Deployment

No Agreement Yet Between California, Defense Department On Terms For National Guard Deployment

The acknowledgment came moments after California announced it would not be sending troops to the border, as requested by the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, because it considered the work to be too closely related to immigration enforcement.

Differences involving the US and also California authorities about the responsibilities California troops could work, as stated by the Associated Press, soured during the weekend after California authorities told the Trump government they wouldn't engage in vehicle maintenance and also other initial jobs all over the border in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

The head of the U.S. Border Patrol on Monday could not rule out the possibility that some National Guard troops deployed to the U.S. -Mexico border might be armed for self defense, though troops deployed to date are unarmed.

Last week Brown tried to place conditions on the military's use of California National Guard members and said his support would only be allowed if California's troops have nothing to do with immigration enforcement.

Winnie Mandela: Soweto send-off for anti-apartheid fighter
Madikizela-Mandela had been left to tend to her own pain alone. "Mama you said to us we must come back to the ANC, we heard you". She spoke of the impact that Mam' Winnie had on her life, and referred to her as the "epitome of courage and strength".

"He can not come to terms for the National Guard to patrol and protect the border". Jerry Brown rejected terms of the National Guard's initial deployment to the Mexican border, but a state official said nothing was decided. He said the federal government has yet to reply to the state's proposal of a formal agreement outlining the mission's scope.

Officials said they are planning for a mission that would include some 2,000 troops in total. Other Republican governors not located on the border have also said they would support the effort with troops including Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. An update to that report introduced a statement from Lt. Colonel Tom Keegan that "the federal government has not yet responded and added that the next step is for the federal government to respond by signing the Memorandum of Agreement". State officials denied they had rejected any requests.

"We can not let people enter our country", Trump said.

Gov. Jerry Brown, the self-anointed Savior of the Planet whose decades-long policies are destroying the once-Golden State, is obsessed with climate change and wants to ban the sale of fossil fuel cars in California, while President Trump is trying to secure the border. Drawing that line will likely prove hard because the Border Patrol combats illegal immigration but also drug smuggling and other crimes.

Taliban seize district in Afghanistan's Ghazni province
Confirming the report, Shindand District Governor Shukrullah Shaker said the attack took place in Larzanak area of the district. Rahmani said the attackers planted mines to stop reinforcements from coming to help the government forces fend off the attack.

Chief Ronald Vitiello told reporters that governors of border states would have the right to assess whether the troops in their states carry arms, particularly if they are on a mission that might require them to defend themselves.

Trump had initially thanked Brown for agreeing to send the National Guard.

Brown last week characterized his decision to contribute troops as a welcome infusion of federally-funded support to fight transnational criminal gangs and drug and firearms smugglers. The Arizona National Guard said last week that its troops will provide air and ground support.

Talks between USA and California officials about the duties the California troops would perform soured Friday and over the weekend after state authorities told them they would not participate in the initial tasks proposed for California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, the US officials said. Almost 250 were in Arizona, more than 60 in New Mexico and about 650 in Texas.
