Apple ordered to pay patent troll more than $500 million in iMessage case

For now, Apple's lawyers aren't commenting and VirnetX is celebrating a victory. Last we heard of the fight was in October 2017, when Apple was ordered to pay $439.7 million, a ruling the company then appealed.

A federal court in the state of Texas has reportedly asked Apple Inc.to pay almost Dollars 502.6 million to patent troll VirnetX, for the infringement of its four patents associated with secure internet communications.

The case began way back in 2012 with four of VirnetX's patents (1, 2, 3, 4), which had originated at a company called Science Applications International Corporation, or SAIC. The legal battle has been protracted, and it involves multiple lawsuits and a dizzying number of appeals.

A lawyer representing a Yemeni human rights group filed a lawsuit Tuesday in France accusing Mohammed of complicity in torture. Seventy-five per cent of French people want Macron to suspend arms exports to Saudi Arabia and the UAE, a YouGov poll found.

VirnetX's stock skyrocketed by 44 percent on Tuesday after the jury concluded Apple was violating its patents.

Reports claim that the legal battle between Apple includes many legal suits and a myriad number of appeals.

The case is now being reviewed by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, which will determine whether or not VirnetX's patents are actually invalid. Apple emerged victorious over Samsung after it took the South Korean consumer tech giant to court for stealing its designs and technologies, but the company got a taste of its own medicine this week.

Three Army jawans and four civilians were also killed in the incident. "The slain Armyman was identified as Sepoy S Gunakar Roy". Another injured person, identified as 30-year-old Aijaz Palla, later succumbed in a hospital, a health official said.

"The evidence was clear", VirnetX chief Kendall Larsen said after the court's decision was announced. "Tell the truth and you don't have to worry about anything".

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has ruled the patents invalid, which VirnetX is appealing.
