Messaging app Twitter has banned bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies ads from today.

Twitter will ban cryptocurrency advertising, joining Facebook and Google in a clampdown on the industry over the risk of giving publicity to potential fraud or large investor losses.

Going by the Bitcoin price reaction, cryptocurrency market showed resilience when Twitter enforced its ad ban.

Google is expected to implement its new financial products policy from June, which will prohibit advertisements related to the cryptocurrency market. "Under this new policy, the advertisement of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and token sales will be prohibited globally", The Verge quoted the company as saying.

The space explorer spared no punches in an interview with American Rolling Stone magazine about his feelings towards his father. German bank Commerzbank also said it was putting Facebook advertising "on hold" as it evaluates data security.

Ads for cryptocurrency exchanges and wallet services, meanwhile, will be restricted and limited to those that are provided by a public company under Twitter's new policy.

"We are committed to ensuring the safety of the Twitter community", Twitter said in a statement. As it turns out, that isn't the only thing Twitter is going to do to cut back on the amount of cryptocurrency spam on its platform, as it will soon be restricting certain ads as well. All advertisers will be affected by the new policy.

Representatives of Twitter stated that they were taking the action to protect those who used the social media platform.

The cryptocurrency was trading near $7,895 as of 1:48 p.m. ET Monday, more than $600 lower than a day earlier, according to data from Coinbase.

At the global box office, the film has collected more than $1.2 billion against a pre-marketing budget of $200 million. Worldwide, Black Panther has surpassed more than $1.2 billion in ticket sales, good for 14th place.

The move comes after Twitter said it would take measure to prevent crypto-related accounts from being deceptive to users, but has since made a decision to follow in the footsteps of both Facebook and Google.

The cryptocurrency market was worth less than $300 billion on Tuesday, according to Coinmarketcap - an astounding $525-billion drop from the record value seen in January.

In 2017, $5.6bn was raised through ICOs, but there are also concerns that scammers are using online ads to find victims willing to part with their cash for what may be revealed as the Dutch tulip auctions of our age.
