Southampton are 23/20 (2.15) to get the win that would see them make their first semi-final appearance since 2003, the same year they finished runners-up to Arsenal.

The FA Cup offers some respite from the day-to-day league woes of the South Coast club but this won't be an easy trip to the North West, where "cupsets" have been the norm for much of this campaign.

"We've got to keep that energy high and confidence high, because clearly that's in a better place now, so we need to continue in the same vein in the Premier League".

And but for Latics keeper Christian Walton Saints could have scored more during a much improved second half display.

"But the time I've been with them, I've seen good quality and application and maybe they've been hurt by the criticism of themselves, as individuals and as a group".

Also, this is only the fourth ever game that the teams have met with two being in the FA Cup - the Saints were the victors 3-0 in a fourth round tie in 1986 where ironically Wigan boss Paul Clarke played for the club that day.

Hundreds gather at St. Patrick's Day parade

Dusan Tadic's corner was stabbed goalwards by Hojbjerg and Wigan's Dan Burn couldn't react quick enough to clear off the line.

Guido Carrillo failed to connect to a spilled Sofiane Boufal free-kick at the other end on 11 minutes before a real chance for Wigan to score.

Wigan goalkeeper Walton had a strong game and pushed away Gabbiadini's spot-kick with an excellent diving save as he kept the hosts in the match at 1-0.

Celtics' Marcus Smart to have surgery for torn thumb ligament
Smart was able to return to Sunday's game with his thumb taped, but now the C's have found enough damage to opt for the surgery. On the season, he is averaging 10.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. "I love to play", Smart said.

The League One side is now fighting for promotion alongside the tournament, but they are likely to field a strong team with the hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

The match will be the first under new manager Mark Hughes after Mauricio Pellegrino was given his marching orders on Monday night. "Offer me that choice and I don't think I'd be able to turn it down".

But for now, Southampton can celebrate reaching the last four of the competition for the first time since they lost in the 2003 final to Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium.

My coaches who are the best in the world believed in me, and I'm here today, and got to play for Canada, and taking home a bronze. Canada, South Korea and China all went 9-2 to finish the preliminary round tied atop the standings.

"There are those key moments you have to manage in a game and we didn't".
