Attorney General Jeff Sessions will speak about ‘sanctuary jurisdiction’ issues at an annual conference organized by California Peace Officers’ Association according to the U.S. Department of Justice

Sessions was defiant as he spoke to local law enforcement officials about the lawsuit, citing a series of California laws that he says are unconstitutional and violate common sense.

Sessions also used his speech to sharply criticize Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf for warning the public about an unannounced raid by federal deportation officers recently in California.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Wednesday he will "use every power I have to stop" California from impeding federal immigration officers. Attempts to require local law enforcement officials to enforce federal law-something that is most certainly not their job-cost millions of dollars and, by deterring cooperation with police, make it hard to do the day-to-day work of keeping people safe. "Bragging about and encouraging the obstruction of our law enforcement and I am afraid that this is an embarrassment to the proud state of California". In a 44-page affidavit filed with the suit, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Thomas Homan laid out the many ways the state was hampering his ability to detain undocumented immigrants, from not sharing information to banning agents from prisons to shutting down ICE's access to the state's gang database. As Attorney General Jeff Sessions visited Sacramento Wednesday to promote the legal action, the drama gave California politicians on both sides of the aisle the opportunity to fire up their respective bases. He tweeted that it was "about time" for the federal government to end his state's sanctuary laws.

Republican Assemblyman and gubernatorial candidate Travis Allen rejoiced over Sessions' lawsuit and subsequent California visit. "Immigration law is the province of the federal government", he said.

Buying Qualcomm would make Broadcom the third-largest chip maker, behind Intel Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. The annual meeting will be reconvened at 8:00am PST in San Diego, California, on April 5th .

The former Republican senator from Alabama admonished the Golden State's elected officials at the meeting - held blocks away from the statehouse - for passing pro-immigrant laws just one day after suing Gov. "Neither should the Trump administration".

Governor Brown is calling the lawsuit "a stunt", but US Attorney General Jeff Sessions begs to differ.

"So here's my message to Mayor Schaaf: How dare you".

Schaaf issued an unusual public warning last month about an immigration operation in Northern California. Brown says the actions are about dividing America. Brown said he hoped to have a "rational discussion" with U.S. Department of Justice officials once Sessions' "circus" left Sacramento.

In the time since Donald Trump won the presidential election, there has been an increasing amount of tension between lawmakers in Washington DC and lawmakers in California. Jerry Brown in 2017 cover three main areas: preventing the communication of local officials to federal officials over release dates of immigrants except in serious criminal cases, restricting the cooperation of private employers, and requiring federal officials to inspect and review of immigrant detention facilities in California.

"Those are 800 wanted criminals that are now at large in that community - 800 wanted criminals that ICE will now have to pursue by other means, with more difficulty in risky situations - all because of one irresponsible action", Sessions said.

Brown and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra are directly named in the suit - and are ready for the fight.
