More than 500 families hoping to have a baby using frozen eggs or embryos might no longer have that option because of an unknown temperature fluctuation at a OH fertility center.

The womb-wrenching flub was caused when heat levels unexpectedly rose inside a liquid nitrogen tank at the fertility center, "compromising" up to 2,000 eggs and embryos, DePompei admitted in a Facebook post.

Accordingly, huge numbers of the eggs and embryos - some of which have been put away for a considerable length of time - may never again be feasible, Patti DePompei, president, UH MacDonald Women's Hospital and UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital revealed to NBC News.

More than two thousand eggs and embryos stored at a fertility clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, may be in danger due to temperature fluctuation. It remains to be seen whether patients whose tissue was in the freezer will still be expected to pay, DePompei told NBC News. "But we do know that the temperature that was measured at a portion of the tank was higher than our acceptable limits".

Iran criticizes France over missile program stance
He added that Iran's missiles "are defensive and are not created to carry weapons of mass destruction, since we don't have any". The meeting Monday drew protests from a number of university students in front of the foreign ministry in Tehran.

"We are incredibly sorry this happened", the hospital said in a statement.

Women and families choose to freeze their eggs or embryos for a number of reasons to try and have a baby at a later date. Some of these eggs and embryos have been stored in there for decades.

Approximately 500 to 600 families were affected by the malfunction and University Hospitals have begun the tedious task of reaching out to all the families to see how they wish to proceed.

Right now, hospital officials do not know how numerous eggs and embryos are viable, only that a number have been impacted.

The storage facility was not staffed overnight Saturday.

There is a call center available to answer questions and set up appointments.

"Right now, our patients come first".

As of now these eggs and embryos have been moved to a working tank. The cost of the procedure range from at least $12,000 to $14,000. In 2015, in excess of 6,200 ladies solidified their eggs, as indicated by the most recent figures from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Sean Tipton, chief policy officer at ASRM expressed his sympathy for the affected families and said the organization would look into the matter ensuring this is not repeated.
