On Friday, Zverev gave Germany a 1-0 lead with a 7-5 4-6 4-6 6-3 7-6 (4) win over de Minaur before Kyrgios leveled for Australia with a 6-4 6-4 6-4 win over Struff.

In other matches, the United States advanced to the quarter-finals stage after Ryan Harrison and Steve Johnson won to give them an unassailable 3-0 lead in Serbia.

It sealed an unbeatable 3-1 result for Germany who qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time in four years.

World number five Alexander Zverev can seal the tie for Germany if he can beat Nick Kyrgios in the first singles rubber on Sunday.

Kyrgios's frustrations at an elbow injury boiled over when he smashed a racquet and received a point penalty in the second set against Zverev.

"One year Andy Murray won all his matches (in 2015 when Britain were champions), but it's important to have depth in your team - we haven't had that depth for a lot of years, " said German captain Michael Kohlmann.

The Switch's premium online service is launching this September
Nintendo has been trying to roll out its paid online subscription service for the Switch gaming console for quite some time. The Nintendo Switch Online service was originally projected for fall of 2017 , but obviously that didn't happen.

"I'd like to think in the next three to five years we could have a real shake at the Davis Cup competition with a lot of the young players coming up". "It's just tough to go out there and not be able to put in your best performance - it sucks".

The victor of the Brisbane tie advances to the Davis Cup quarter-finals in April, either hosting Great Britain or travelling to face Spain.

Kyrgios appeared to be struggling with a right elbow ailment, taking a time-out for treatment while leading 4-3 in the second set.

Australia team captain Lleyton Hewitt said the injury - not the must win situation - had made it hard for Kyrgios to focus.

Germany will now face Spain, who knocked out an under-strength Great Britain team lacking the injured Andy Murray and tired Kyle Edmund.

And the stage was set for what Hewitt had predicted would be an epic clash between tennis' two rising stars Kyrgios and Zverev but it quickly became one-way traffic.

West Ham suspend head of transfers over 'racist' comments about African players
The PFA issued a statement , reading: "The PFA strongly condemn any such views and there is no place for them in football ". Moyes said: "I've spoken to one or two of the African players and they seem fine and they've trained well".

The hosts will look to take a 2-1 lead in Saturday's doubles when Australia's Matthew Ebden and John Peers take on Peter Gojowczyk and Tim Puetz.

Australia will have to win through a playoff in September to be in the 16-nation world group in 2019.

Joining Serbia at the exit was 2014 victor Switzerland, which was also overwhelmed 3-0 by Kazakhstan after failing to mount much of a challenge in the absence of 20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer.

Since then Australia have had a 5-6 win-loss doubles record but have lost four of their last seven doubles rubbers.

But it may take more time for Kyrgios to recover from his frustrating 6-2 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 loss that soured what had been a sweet summer.
