"I screamed, 'Oh my God, it burns!"

The former world No.5 was seeking damages for her physical and emotional suffering in the lawsuit, which lasted almost two and a half years, as well as lost earnings both on and off the court.

Bouchard slipped on a cleaning substance that had been applied to the trainer's room's tile floor and sustained a concussion that forced her to withdraw from the 2015 tournament. Bouchard told jurors, according to the New York Post.

It was confirmed that the USTA was found mostly liable for the slip, a jury ruling in the former world number five's favour, and would have to pay 75 per cent of the damages owed to Bouchard.

She did not play a complete a match for the rest of the 2015 season.The New York Times reported that the jury found the USTA 75 percent responsible, but assessed Bouchard's contributory negligence at 25 percent.

Benedict Morelli, Bouchard's lawyer, said: "When people attack you and attack your name, you get affected by that".

During her trial, the Montreal native said she had fallen flat on her back.

The justices announced a constitutional right to possess firearms in the home in a 2008 case called D.C. v. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the law, relying heavily on the state's "cool down" rationale.

Bouchard was also still able to drum up endorsement money, in large part due to her aggressive social media presence, he said.

The damages portion of the trial will begin on Friday.

Bouchard, once ranked No. 5 in the world, slid steadily in the standings post-fall; she now is ranked 116th.

The USTA told Reuters it was not commenting at this time, while representatives for Bouchard could not be immediately reached for a statement.
