Google's February Security Patch Enables Pixel Visual Core for Third-Party Apps

Now, Google has announced that it's bringing improved quality to these apps - but only for the Pixel 2 smartphones.

An update for Android is required to activate the processor so be on the lookout for that. Pixel Visual is a custom designed co-processor for the Pixel 2 smartphones and relies on "computational photography and machine learning (which powers Pixel's HDR+ technology)", to improve image quality.

2018 iPhones to rely exclusively on Intel baseband chips, KGI claims
That may be so, but the fact is demand for iPhone X cooled quickly before Christmas, as several market observers have pointed out. After losing the iPhone business, Qualcomm will be more aggressive in securing orders from Chinese smartphone vendors.

In addition to offloading processing tasks from the Snapdragon CPU, the Pixel 2 Visual Core also uses much less power to run the HDR+ algorithms, which should help with both multitasking and battery life.

"Until today, when you took a picture through those apps, you couldn't get the highest quality HDR+ that you can on the main Pixel camera, because that algorithm is very compute-intensive and those apps require a very snappy reaction", Ofer Shacham, senior staff engineer on Pixel, told i. Other updates include new AR stickers themed around winter sports. With the upcoming early-February software update, the Pixel Visual Core will work for every app that calls up the camera - provided it targets API level 26 (targeting Oreo).

China accuses USA of 'Chilly Conflict mentality' over nuclear coverage
Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said the United States was "talking about new weapons to threaten or use against rivals". The Iranian foreign minister went on to add, "no wonder the Doomsday Clock is at its most unsafe since 1953".

All Pixel and Nexus devices on the February security patch will benefit from "improved RSA key parsing from byte arrays", and updated icons in the Settings app.

Google is ahead of the game when it comes to camera technologies. The company introduced the new co-processor for its Pixel handsets nearly half a month after the initial launch. This is because the search giant has activated Pixel Visual Core, a custom-made image processing tech in the handset for third-party apps.

In the summer, we welcomed the arrivals of Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata , Davide Zappacosta, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater.

The Pixel Core Processor itself has been created to do a bunch of the heavy lifting when it comes to processing pictures, but importantly uses less power than conventional means. "Plus, it has Zero Shutter Lag to capture the frame right when you press the shutter, so you can time shots perfectly", Google said in a blog post. Pixel Visual Core, the search giant's first custom-designed co-processor. The RAISR makes zoomed-in shots look sharper and more detailed than any rival phone camera in the market.
