The question of gun control, and the NRA's role in opposing it, became the focus of national debate on February 14, when Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, returned there and killed 17 people, mostly students, with a legally purchased AR-15 rifle, according to authorities.

Since Thursday, a wave of companies - including United and Delta airlines, Metlife and six vehicle rental brands - have abandoned the National Rifle Association.

The airlines are providing discounts to NRA members to fly to the annual NRA convention, which is being held this May in Dallas.

Membership has privileges. But National Rifle Association members have lost a string of special financial benefits since the Parkland high school shooting deaths in Florida last week.

Survivors of the Parkland shooting will be visiting Livingston for a rally with Sen.

Chiefs Trade Marcus Peters to Rams
The stunning Peters deal comes less than a month after the Chiefs agreed to ship quarterback Alex Smith to Washington. With the added players in the secondary on their way, the Chiefs may have felt they had enough depth to trade Peters.

At a CNN town hall on Wednesday, they urged elected officials to act and sparred with NRA representative Dana Loesch.

But the NRA remains opposed to strengthening gun laws.

The NRA's response has not quelled the avalanche of blame being placed on the historically powerful gun lobby. "Three months ago, Chubb provided notice of our intent to discontinue participation in the NRA Carry Guard insurance program under the terms of our contract", Chubb said in a statement. They've pulled discount deals they used to offer to NRA members, and one local bank in Omaha pledged to stop issuing an NRA-branded Visa card.

The NRA is the gun-rights group that lobbies against firearm regulations nationwide. Four major companies, Enterprise Holdings, First National Bank of Omaha, Symantec, and MetLife are among the first to call it quits after a #BoycottNRA hashtag started to pick up steam online late Thursday. The company offered members a discount on anti-virus software for their computers.

Florida's Overwatch League team to honor the Parkland school shooting victims
Marco Rubio credit for being the only Republican to attend a televised town hall meeting after the school shooting in their state. Many students are planning to take part in walkout events next month to protest a lack of action on gun legislation.

Enterprise Holdings Inc.: The auto rental company, which also owns Alamo and National, tweeted Friday, "All three of our brands have ended the discount for NRA members".

Hey @FedEx why do you support the NRA? To be sure, a majority of Americans say want to see more gun control measures implemented.

ThinkProgress, the news arm of the progressive think tank Center for American Progress, has been keeping a running tally of the companies it says are supporting the NRA in order to keep the pressure on. A year earlier, Starbucks Corp. made a similar statement after the Newtown, Connecticut, shooting. The number of people dying from mass shootings fell by 43 percent. After that, Walmart and the outdoor store Cabela's took down bump stocks from their websites. Bank of America is also "re-examining" its business relationship.

The #NeverAgain movement, founded by a school shooting survivor, is the voice focused on raising public awareness and pressuring companies to abandon the NRA and refuse its money. And as the teen activists continue to rally for their cause, it seems entirely possible that more companies could follow suit.

Much at stake when No. 17 MI visits Penn St.
Finally, Penn State plays a single game against Texas A&M, March 6 and will play in the Houston Tournament, March 9-11. Soon after, Jordan Poole canned a shot from deep and Zavier Simpson scored to put MI basketball up eight.
