But according to The Wall Street Journal, the carrier backed out of the deal without any explanation.

In June 2016 Huawei filed a further complaint relating to the same infringement at the Quanzhou Intermediate People's Court, according to Reuters.

AT&T spokesman Fletcher Cook declined to comment.

The refusal is the latest example of a Chinese company struggling to develop its U.S. business.

"The U.S. market presents unique challenges for Huawei, and while the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro will not be sold by U.S. carriers, we remain committed to this market now and in the future", it said.

Trump Administration Will Let States Require People To Work For Medicaid
The state estimates about one-fourth - or about 33,000 - of those referred to Gateway to Work will choose not to participate. State legislative efforts to try to enact Medicaid work requirements have been unable to gain traction.

Yet Huawei appeared shut out of the United States six years ago after congressional investigators determined its equipment could be used for spying or crippling the US telecommunications network, the Journal reported.

Originally, Yu was expected to announce the AT&T deal at CES, but it collapsed a day before his scheduled speech.

Huawei's Washington-based spokesman William Plummer said on Tuesday that "privacy and security are always our first priority". He emphasized its features, including its faster speeds, longer battery life, rapid charging capability and a camera that recognizes objects and adjusts using artificial intelligence.

He pointed to the 153 million smartphones Huawei shipped in 2017, saying the company has already earned consumers' trust around the world.

Huawei didn't quite have the CES 2018 coming out party for the USA market that it may have wanted. According to a Reuter's report, AT&T was pressured after members of the U.S. Senate and House Intelligence Committees sent a letter last month to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission citing concerns over espionage.

Kim Kardashian Calls Out Tabloid for Shaming Kris Jenner's Face as 'Chubby'
Kim Kardashian drank a damn fish smoothie to avoid spilling the deets on Khloe and Kylie's pregnancies. Kim Kardashian's recent defense of her mum Kris Jenner over a body-shaming article is a case in point.

At the time, Huawei hit out at global "protectionism". But then Yu broke from the script addressing telecom giant AT&T's last minute decision to pull out of a deal to carry Huawei phones in the U.S.

Huawei has been flagged by lawmakers before. In 2012, a congressional committee declared the company a security threat over its alleged ties with the Chinese government.

USA officials are also investigating whether the company violated American trade sanctions in countries including Iran and Syria.

It's awkward timing for Huawei, which showed off the Mate 10 Pro at the tech show CES this week.

Britain refuses Ecuador's request to grant diplomatic status to Assange
